Latt Ky of the Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association
Mr. Latt Ky, the first AHRC intern who has successfully completed training on the use of electronic communications for promotion of human rights, returned to Cambodia on 25 August 1998. Mr. Ky represented leading human rights organisation in Cambodia — Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC). He made the following remarks in the evaluation of his training in Hong Kong:
"It’s my honour and luck that I had an opportunity to learn the areas such as Internet, WWW [world-wide web], e-mail and urgent appeal knowledge and their capacity to assist in sharing human rights information through networks of human rights groups. Especially I was glad to know the activities of the Asian Legal Resource Centre, which has considered Cambodia as one of its priorities....
"...What I learned will improve my group on communications, documentation of human rights violations....
"My belief is that computer-based modern communications could assist significantly the people of Cambodia to realise their rights and freedoms. Also through computer communication, the human rights efforts in Cambodia can be supported by millions of peoples and groups all over the world who concern us through solidarity."
