DISAPPEARANCES: Cyberspace Graveyard for Disappeared Persons

They have no graves on ground. A cyberspace graveyard is thus to be set up in memory of them - the disappeared persons in Asia.

Names of the disappeared persons (with details and photos wherever possible) will be carried by a website which will be opened on 10 December, the Human Rights Day.

The Wreath with No Name

This wreath
With no name attached
Is for you
Who has no grave
It is placed
Beside a road
As the earth which touched
You
Could not be found
Forgive me
For making a memorial
By the wayside,
Forgive me

(Translated from a Sinhala poem that was published in 1971.)

Invitation for Articles, News Items and Photos on Disappearances in Asia

Human Rights SOLIDARITY will devote its December issue to the problem of disappearances in the region. Contributions from different countries in Asia of their experience on this are welcome.

Contributions regarding movements that had risen due to disappearances, reports of arrests and their aftermath, stories of special death squads and articles on the impact of such disappearances on the victims, families, communities and societies are of special interest. Articles on legal and jurisprudential issues arising from these experiences will also be useful.

Religious and theoretical reifications, pictures of paintings, photos, poems and other religious and artistic expressions relating to the issue are also welcome.

Kindly send in your contributions by 15 October to:
