In Hong Kong, on March 18, 1992, about 80 people protested outside the Marriott Hotel where a seminar on investment in Indo-China including Burma, was organised and co-sponsored by the Asia Wall Street Journal and Cathay Pacific Airways, Ltd.. The action, supported by 16 regional and local groups in Hong Kong, aimed to draw the attention of the organisers and participants who attended the seminar to the fact that foreign investments have gone to support the Burma's military regime to repress the people of Burma.
